THE EASTERN SIBERIA – THE PACIFIC OCEAN OIL PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION

ESPO connects the fields of Western and Eastern Siberia with the oil-loading port of Kazmina and provides oil supplies to markets in the Asia-Pacific region

In March, 2010 construction of the second stage of ESPO (ESPO-2) from the Skovorodino oil filling station to the Kozmino oil loading seaport with the length of 2,046 km began.

TYPES OF WORKS COMPLETED IN THE PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTION

  • Construction of 2,694.0 km-2,891.0 km pipeline, 198 km in length, 1,067mm in diameter, 10 Mpa pipeline operating pressure
  • Eight linear gate valves and ODS chambers
  • Objects of electrochemical protection
  • Transmission lines along the track overhead lines 6 (10) kW and supporting overhead line 10 kW from sub-station 220 / 35 / 10 Magdagachi to along the track overhead lines -10 kW
  • Two helicopter pads
  • Telemechanization of the linear part of oil pipeline and equipping with engineering and technical means of protection. 6 crossings over roads and railways

DURING THE ENTIRE PERIOD OF CONSTRUCTION WE USED THE FOLLOWING:

During construction pipes of special strength class and increased operational reliability with special indicators of chemical composition, metal structure, impact toughness, resistance to cracking, requirements to welds (wall thickness 16-24 mm, and at underwater crossings - 22-27 mm) were used
Special automatic welding technologies using welding materials developed by the leading global companies such as Lincoln, COBE Steel, BELER especially for the ESPO construction
100% control of weld joints with radiographic method. Ultrasound inspection method additionally is applied for joints of welding fittings and overflowing
Construction of underwater crossings with directional drilling and microtunneling methods
